Opt Out of the Working Time Directive (48‑hour weekly limit)

The UK Working Time Regulations normally limit average weekly working time to 48 hours. You may choose to opt out of this limit. This agreement records your voluntary decision and confirms our commitments on health, safety and fair treatment.

Candidate

Important information

  • Opting out affects only the 48‑hour average weekly limit. All other protections continue to apply (rest breaks, night‑work limits, paid annual leave, health & safety obligations).
  • Opting out is voluntary. There is no detriment for choosing not to opt out.
  • You may withdraw the opt‑out at any time by giving written notice. A reasonable notice period (typically up to three months) may apply to adjust scheduling.

Your decision

Health, safety, and rest

  • Daily and weekly rest requirements and appropriate breaks will still apply.
  • Night‑work limits, risk assessments, and safety procedures remain in force.
  • We may restrict overtime if additional hours could pose risks to health or safety.

Special arrangements

Would you require any special arrangements for interview, assessment, or work (accessibility or other adjustments)?

Declaration

By submitting this form, I confirm that:

  • My decision to opt out (if selected) is voluntary, and I may withdraw by giving written notice.
  • This opt‑out does not remove other legal protections regarding rest, night‑work limits, paid leave, or health and safety.
  • My information will be processed in line with UK GDPR for lawful HR and scheduling purposes.
